Deidre Pierson
Assistant Coach

Skidmore College women's basketball head coach Jess Turner has announced the hiring of Deidre D. Pierson as the program's assistant coach.

Prior to her arrival at Saratoga Springs, Pierson spent three years as a volunteer assistant for the Union College Women's Basketball program where she assisted with recruiting, scouting, practice planning and on-court instruction. Pierson also served as the Assistant coach for the Union Women's Golf program from 2017-2019, where she served as the program's Recruiting Coordinator.

Previous stops for Pierson have included head coach of Bishop Kelly High School Girl's Basketball AAU program in Boise, Idaho, and a volunteer assistant coach for both JV and Varsity Girl's Basketball for Rainier Beach High School in Seattle, Wash.

Pierson competed at Division I's Boise State University. As a point guard under head coach June Daugherty, she helped her team achieve a national ranking, a Big Sky Conference Co-Champions title, and earned an at-large bid into the NCAA Division I post-season tournament. Pierson earned Big Sky Conference All-Academic honors throughout her career. Prior to playing at Boise State, Pierson played for the Dawson College's Lady Blues Basketball and Sun Youth Girls AAU programs both out of Montréal.

"I'm incredibly excited to have Deidre join our Thoroughbred family," said Turner. "She brings an extensive amount of basketball knowledge, both as a successful Division I player and coach. Her past experiences and her familiarity with the Liberty League will be instrumental in helping our program re-establish our championship culture."

Pierson graduated from Boise State University in 1996 with a Bachelor of Science in Political Science. Following her collegiate playing career, she worked in the IT Management field within the Legal, Financial Services and Regulatory Compliance sectors. In tandem with her return to coaching at Union College, Pierson more recently completed a Master's of Science degree in Sport Management from SUNY-Cortland's Sport Management Professional Studies program in August, 2019.

"I'm excited to be a part of the Skidmore family," said Pierson. "I'm grateful for the opportunity Coach Turner has provided me, and I look forward to helping bring Skidmore Women's Basketball back to its prior level of success."

Pierson lives in Schenectady, N.Y. with her wife and enjoys music, dance, reading, gardening, and all things basketball and golf related.
